*Accidentally posted in the wrong forum earlier*

Hey all, my beginning mail here.

I'm a hip-hop fan and tend to spend some fourth dimension reading hip-hop blogs. Today I read a jab from rapper Jim Jones at Jay-Z in regards to Jay-Z'southward fashion sense.

The total web log post can be found hither (it'southward unimportant, really) : http://blogs.sohh.com/nyc/archives/2...les_contd.html

With the important role beingness Jim Jones calling out Jay-Z on wearing a Gucci chugalug with an LV scarf:

"And wait at the Vibe comprehend. Tell me who Jay-Z looks like in at that place? Did you see the film of him? With the Louis Vuitton scarf and all that... he had a Gucci belt with a Louis Vuitton scarf. Who does that?... That's like wearing one Nike and one Puma; how you going to get away with that?

I had no idea that this was a fashion simulated-pas! :\\

What are the general rules about 'mixing' labels?

Are there any?

It'due south not a faux-pas.

I don't know about in hip-hop, only in the real globe, wearing head-to-toe of one label is called a "Fashion Victim." Not just is it a no-no, it makes you look like an idiot who doesn't have the sense OR style to shop around and figure out what he/she really likes.

Jim Jones sounds like he needs to stick to rapping and leave fashion to others, because he doesn't know what the hell he's talking about.

Maybe more of a gang mentality. You can't chapter with both the Bloods and the Crips at the aforementioned time, as I myself have learned through bitter experience.

I don't know how much stock I'd put in Jim Jones' way sense. In fact, it seems that in most cases, having fashion sense and beingness a rapper are mutually exclusive.

I do feel rather uneasy when I wear pieces of the same brand in i outfit (particularly shirts and pants). However, that's not to say I wouldn't "synergize" a make if the pieces work well together.

Jim Jones is an idiot, he's but trying to get some press.

That said, information technology may look kinda weird if you're a agglomeration of unlike monograms. Though it looks stupid if y'all're wearing a agglomeration of the same monogram anyway.

I'one thousand the first to admit I know nothing about hip-hop... but "Hustler'due south POME" is the stupidest title for anything I've heard in a long time. Looking at the guy on the cover, though, information technology seems to make sense and gives the quote of the OP more context...

See, that's the thing. Why isn't his necklace fabricated out of trivial mini-skulls also? You tin can't habiliment a regular necklace with a skull belt! What a hypocrite.

jim jones, in addition to having no idea what he is talking near, is an illiterate moron.

(To answer your question, wearing the lv monogram or a gucci web belt together is non a fashion faux-pas, although most around here don't like clothing that has branding on information technology)

Hate matchy-matchy.

I went to school with a guy who color-coordinated his accessories (due east.g.Red sneaks, ruby chugalug, cerise baseball cap). Drove me insane. Sometimes he'd match his tees to it, too. How the fuck can and so many color variations of the aforementioned thing? To me, that'southward the same affair with brands.
